Liberator Couture Toy Case Collection

This line of discrete toy storage bags sprouted as a partnership between a well-established, high volume adult toy distributor and Liberator, a sexual wellness brand. My team's goal was to position the bags as high value add-on purchase. We designed the line to offer a combination of high-quality materials, stylish and functional design, and most importantly a hygienic and discreet way to keep your adult accessories clean, safe, and out of sight.

Ballistic Nylon

Ballistic Nylon lines the inside of Liberator’s Toy Storage Bags. This material is not only extremely durable, but also waterproof and very easy to clean, making it ideal from a hygiene and quality perspective.

Waxed Canvas

A 10 oz Waxed Canvas Army Duck is used on this line of Liberator bags. This material is very durable, fashionable, and get’s more attractive with age and use.

Lockable Zippers

Privacy is the number one objective of the Liberator Couture Case line. Each bag features lockable zipper sliders that work with a range of consumer-available locks.

Cuff Connector

The handles of the bags can be unclipped and used as a cuff connector. This feature keeps these bags in line with Liberator’s rapidly growing concept of “playful restraint.”

Leather Accents

A combination of latigo and garment weight leathers are used in this line. The garment leather offers a luxury look and feel, while the Latigo offers structure and additional functionality to the handles.

Iterate

From our initial concepts, my team took a few intriguing designs and built them out in beta materials. This gives us a great sense of overall shape and scale, and gives the designs a solid foundation for future details.

Prototype: Franken-sample

This is a "Franken-sample." Often times my team will combine a number of different possible solutions on to one sample. This saves time and often provides a lot of insight into what works and what doesn’t.

From this exercise we determined the placement of the handle. As we applied what we learned to our other concepts, my team started to understand where and how much structure we needed in these bags.

Refine

Our concepts became tighter with each sample we made, helping us identify the right accents and materials.

Validate: Final Details

Attention to detail is very important in these products, so my team built as many samples as it took to hone in on the proper look and feel of each design. This helps us make sure we can consistently manufacture each piece.

Launch

After all of the labor studies, manufacturing specifications, creative assets, and content have been finalized, my team launched these new toy bag designs. Since then, the designs have been picked up by over a dozen adult retail stores across the country.
